Check out some of the awesome used boats we found perusing the listings on Boat Trader. If you love performance, you’ll love these three picks.
Formula 37 PC
2009 Formula 37 PCFind a 37 PC with Volvo-Pental IPS 450 diesel engines and you’ll net an advertised 2 mpg at a 30-mph cruising speed. Some others went out the door with 330-hp diesels, and most are also outfitted with a generator. Of course, a boat like this needs a lot of accessories to make it complete. Cool touches you’ll see include ultra-cool underwater transom lights and remote-control indirect cockpit lighting that can be changed from blue to white; full electronics suites with radar, chartplotters, and everything in-between; full aft enclosures; a.c. and heat; and eardrum-blowing sound systems.

Fountain 47 Lightning
They say money can’t buy happiness but I’ve never seen anyone frowning in a go-fast boat.

This one ticks the right boxes for several reasons. Or maybe for 1800 of them, because triple Mercury Racing HP600SC motors can be found under the hood. Expect these hotrods to hit speeds in excess of 70-mph and some to break the 800-mph mark. This Fountain also has heating and air-conditioning and a generator, so it would be great for overnighting even in hot climates like Florida, or anywhere on the East Coast in the summer. Anyone who knows anything about high-performance boats will recognize this as one to snap up.

Cobalt 220
New Cobalts are expensive, which puts them out of reach for a lot of buyers. That’s why used Cobalts are always enticing. Take the 220 bowrider, for example. You can expect to see features on it like a Volvo-Penta DuoProp drive, a dual-axle trailer, a mooring cover, and a bimini top. If you occasionally like to make a little noise, the switchable exhaust is always a fun thing to play with.

What you can’t read in the listings is that Cobalt owners tend to take fastidious care of their boats. They are, after all, pretty pricey when new, so wouldn’t you want to take good care of it? Here’s another nice thing for the second owner: Cobalts tend to hold their value over time. That means most of the depreciation already has taken place when you buy one used. Sure it will continue to depreciate, but at a slower rate than a lesser brand. If you ever decide to sell it in the future, you likely will have more retained value.
