A recent browsing of Boat Trader listings produced a real cornucopia of results, especially when it comes to boats that represent a good value. Among those listings we found three boats designed to do very different things—a dual console, a cabin cruiser, and a sportfish yacht. So whether you’re an angler, long-distance cruiser, or heading out to the canyons for the big ones, scroll down for the skinny on a trio of boats we think have the potential to tickle your springtime fancy.

Boston Whaler 270 Vantage
When it comes to having a solid reputation for building super-tough, unsinkable boats, Boston Whaler wrote the book. For more than 60 years the company has been churning out some of the most enduring and iconic boat designs in the world. So when we saw a dual -console Boston Whaler 270 Vantage in the listings, we knew it warranted a closer look.
Available in three different models, the dual-console Vantage series provides utility for folks who not only want to fish, but entertain friends and family on the dock. The 270’s versatile layout includes an expansive lounging are in the bow, a large aft bench in the cockpit, a swiveling captain’s chair behind the helm, and a reversible bench lounge just behind the port console. A wet bar is included, as is an enclosed head tucked way under the port console.
Fitted with twin 225-horsepower Mercury Verado four-stroke outboards, this boat has a top speed of around 52 mph, with a lean, efficient cruise in the mid 20s. Also notable is the Mercury electronic engine control and steering system, which makes docking and maneuvering a breeze.
Among the optional goodies on board are a VacuFlush head, Fusion stereo system, custom cockpit and bow covers, fiberglass hardtop, anchor windlass, and more. If you’re looking for a dual-console boat but new-boat prices have given you a bit of sticker shock, this boat represents a significant savings over what you’ll pay at the dealer.

Carver 356 Motor Yacht
Over the years Carver has marketed some boats with less than stellar looks, but its 356 Motor Yacht bucks this trend, providing traditional lines that are pleasing to the eye. Under the engine hatches are twin 6.2-liter MerCruiser gasoline inboards.
The best part about this boat’s layout is the room it offers. Topped with a flybridge area that has an expansive lounge, the 356 also has an open aft deck that’s great for alfresco dining or entertaining. Rainy and miserable outside? No problem. The flybridge and aft deck come with custom canvas enclosures. Twin sun pads on the bow and a huge integral swim platform aft round out the leisure areas on the 356.
Below is a massive cherry-accented, twin-stateroom layout with ample living spaces. There’s a large guest stateroom in the bow and a master stateroom aft. Each stateroom comes with its own dedicated enclosed shower/head area.
A formal living area highlights the mid-deck area, while slightly
forward is a galley and spacious booth-style dinette. A wraparound
window scheme provides lots of natural light below.
